Introductions – Krazny
Allrighty, introduction time.
I’m Krazny. Originally Kraznykat (in my AC2 days), but mostly just plain Kraz. I’ve been playing computer games more or less since I had a computer. Which was, I think, around 17 years ago. It doesn’t make me any sort of expert, just someone who spent far too much time playing. Since the days of Ultima (more specifically, Savage Empire) I started liking RPG’s (mostly computerized ones, though I did play PnP D&D for a short while), and that’s what I usually play. I like their capacity for plot, humor and interesting and diverse gameplay. If I had to pick favorites, I’d go with the Fallout games and the Quest for Glory series, along with Betrayal at Krondor. Ok, ok, and Savage Empire. All right, so I’m not too good at picking favorites.
MMO-wise, I’ve done the Wish beta, played DDO (beta and retail), AC2, WoW, Irth, LotRO, EVE Online, A Tale in the Desert and Vanguard. Of all of the above, I enjoyed my time in Wish, short as it may have been, the most. It was a great community in its starting phases along with a great game, with lots of concepts that I haven’t seen in any game since. I like EVE for its great differences from the “standard” MMO, and I liked Vanguard for its crafting (when it wasn’t acting all buggy) and for what they tried to do with diplomacy (though I wasn’t too thrilled with the end result of that).
At some point about a year and a half ago, I discovered web-based MMO’s. Well, MMO’s isn’t an exact description, since contrary to your regular client-based MMO, the web-based games are only MMO’s in that they have many people playing the same game – there is no grouping of players, and the only interaction is usually through chat and trade. I tried out a couple of different themed web-based games but most of them were dull and pointless, with a few exceptions like KoL, which is the only one I still play every now and then, if only because their humor makes me laugh (though the game itself is good in addition to being funny).
Profession-wise, I’m a former programmer – though more often than not I’ve been a non-practicing programmer. I spent a couple of years as a Windows systems administrator, but for the last year or so I’ve been doing mostly QA work.
Well, that’s more or less it about me for now. Next up, a bit about my wife Scopti. Probably.
